I found this weird problem with the Canon HF G30 video camera while shooting a teardown. The image on the LCD froze during recording and the camera would not switch back on when switched off.
A battery power cycle seems to have fixed it.
My money is now on an SD card problem, as this camera has known issues with not recording anything at all on some SD cards.
