Photographers – Create Effective Business Cards

With the advent of digital photography a number of new photographers have been entering the market. This has created a flood of new photographers. Photography business owners must not only have an excellent product, they must learn to be master marketers.

One tool for effective marketing is the effective use of business cards. This article suggests ways in which professional photographers can improve their business cards.

1. Begin with a strong visual logo or image on the card. You are after all running a photography business, not a law firm. People expect to see a stunning image or graphic. If there is not one there, you will lose some credibility. Use an image that connects to your customers emotionally.

2. Add a memorable catch phrase which will set you apart from your competitors. This phrase should be consistent with all of your marketing efforts. Keeping a consistent message across all of your marketing material will help in establishing your brand. Use a phrase that connects with your customers emotionally.

3. The layout of the card needs to be pleasing to the eye. Remember, just as in person to person relationships you never get a second chance to make a great first impression, so the first exposure a person has to your business will be his first impression. Often a business card is the tool to make the first impression of your work. Make it pleasing to the eye and memorable.

4. Make sure you have the essential information. Cut out any non-essential information. Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and Website are essential bits of information.

5. Choose a font that is easy to read. It is tempting to use the font which looks the most elegant. Unfortunately, elegant fonts take the most effort to read. Many people will not put forth that extra effort.

6. Look at current graphics that high-end vendors of a number of products are using. Make sure your design is not out of date.

The photography industry is competitive. Marketing better than your competitors is essential. The above are suggestions, which if incorporated, will increase the marketing effectiveness of your business card.
